لولهکشی و به تعبیر درست Piping یکی از گستردهترین و پرکاربردترین دانشهای مهندسی است که تقریبا میتوان گفت در تمام صنایع از صنایع دریایی گرفته تا صنایع نفت و گاز و یا آبرسانی و تصفیهخانهها از آن استفاده میشود. انواع کاربرد لولهها در صنعت مطابق تقسیمبندی زیر میباشد یعنی اینکه یک لوله باید یکی از وظایف زیر را انجام دهد. با تعریف نوع وظیفه یک لوله میتوان مشخصاتی را که باید یک لوله داشته باشد را به دست آورد. در زیر تقسیمبندی لوله کشی از نظر کاربرد در صنایع را مشاهده میکنید:
پایپینگ فرآیندی (Process Piping)
- پایپینگ صنایع دریایی (Marine Piping) مانند کشتی سازی
- پایپینگ در انتقال مواد (Transportation Piping) مانند خط لوله انتقال نفت
- پایپینگ در امور سازهای (Civil Piping) مانند خطوط زیرزمینی مثل خط لوله آب
- لوله کشی ساختمانی (Plumbing) مانند لولهکشی آب سرد و گرم منازل
پایپینگ سرویسدهی (Service Piping)
- پایپینگ خدماتی (Utility Piping) مانند خطوط آب و بخار واحدهای فرآیندی
